Trademark

When a word, name, symbol, or device that is used in trade with goods to indicate the source of the goods and to distinguish them from the goods of others, it is called Trademark. It prevents others from using a similar mark for a same kind of product. Trademark used to identify an exclusive service is usually known as service mark. If your product owes
a trademark or a service mark, others have to make or sell the same good  or service under a clearly different mark. The symbols ™ (the trademark symbol) and ® (the registered trademark symbol) can be used to indicate trademarks or registered trademarks. Trademarks may be registered with USPTO, if those are used in interstate or foreign trade. A trademark owner
may be an individual, business organization, or any legal entity. The unauthorized usage of trademarks by producing and trading counterfeit consumer goods is known as brand piracy. In that case the owner of the original trademark may take legal steps against trademark infringement.
